Now is the time for balance! Without balance, life lacks true beauty. Without the balance of leisure and work, the practical and the spiritual, love and law, experience and innocence, night and day, life lacks true beauty and our happiness is only momentary.

The universe exists on the principle of opposites, extremes polarising and balancing each another. The 'middle way' as described by Buddha, in essence is a balanced life. Balance does not come by thinking alone, we must also do. For instance, a good idea is only "good" when implemented. The intellectual becomes balanced with the practical.

Inner balance works along the same lines. Many of us look for this elusive thing called enlightenment or self-realisation. By thinking about it, we don't necessarily experience it. By being, we do. Being who I really am initially requires knowledge and contemplation on "who am I?" This act moves us from searching to being co-creators. By feeling the truth of the self as the image of love, the image of peace, the image of purity, that is, by experiencing the self in this way, our thoughts are automatically coloured by these attributes, and so one day, we become. We need to actively balance our head and our heart, our intellect and our pure feelings (intuition).

The soul who knows how to live practically as well as dream is one who is materially and spiritually satisfied, for material gain alone does not bring true happiness

Our inner world becomes enchanted by thinking positively and honouring the truth, while lasting happiness comes from living our values. Personal inner discovery becomes fertile through contemplation, concentration and meditation, the essential keys to our journey along the middle path. And the fruits can be enjoyed by all as I begin to spread that peace.

This week take time out and reconcile your inner balance, knowing very deeply that it is indeed like walking a tight ropein need of intense dedication and stamina as well as an elegant and refined gracefulness.

"Don't just do something - stand there."
